The Augustus Saint-Gaudens National Historic Site in Cornish, New Hampshire is getting a new cast of one the great 19th century sculptor's most famous works, the monumental "Abraham Lincoln: The Man" or "Standing Lincoln."
It turns out the man who posed for the statue - it wasn't Abraham Lincoln - was a Vermont man named Langdon Morse. And now the site is looking for living relatives of Morse.
Saint-Gaudens National Historic Site curator Henry Duffy joined Vermont Edition to talk about the sculptor, the work, and the hunt for descendants of the man who modeled for Lincoln's body.
If you have information about living relatives of Langdon Morse you can contact the Saint-Gaudens National Historic Site at this link.
